When Dave found out he was going to inherit a fortune when his sickly father died, he decided he needed a woman with which to enjoy it. So, one evening he went to a singles bar where he spotted the most beautiful woman he had ever seen. Her natural beauty took his breath away. "I may look like just an ordinary man," he said as he walked up to her, "but in just a few years, my father will die, and I'll inherit 20 million dollars." Impressed, the woman went home with him that evening and, three days later, she became his stepmother. Women are so much better at estate planning than men.
My brother in law recently passed and his wife got a check from his insurance company and its made payable to 'the estate of xxxx xxxxx'. He did not have his estate planned out nor did he have a will, what are her options? Any info would be great.
I am looking to help a family member find an estate planning lawyer based in the Tri-City area in Washington. The estate is around 1.5 to 2 million. Are there rankings for estate planning lawyers? I have looked in the phone book, however, I have no way to really know how much the services should cost and how to determine if a given lawyer is good. Thanks!

I would like to find a competent, professional Iranian-American (Persian/Farsi speaking) estate planning attorney in &/or around Orange County, CA for my family.
I'm looking for someone to do a living trust and setup an estate plan. Any recommendations?
I just made a will and a few other documents, such as.."Authorization for Minor's Medical Treatment"..using the Quicken Willmaker. Is it enough to just print these documents and give them to my family members? Or do I need to make them legal somehow? Should I take them to a lawyer and have them signed or something? Or will the lawyer want it done with their own paperwork.
will we be seeing people starting teams soon for survivor series? like team kurt? or will it be diffrent? and if it wont be diffrent, then around when will people start making teams for survivor series??
What will be the affects of a global nuclear war? A nuclear holocaust? What will be the affects one our planet? Ozone layer? Global worming? Will it be colder or warmer? What will be the changes in the natural world? The whole issue sratded interest me when I told my friend the what would have happen to the world music if there was a nuclear war in the 80’s, cause I think that music died after the 80’s. 90’s is the start of the crappie music and no it is whole shit. If humanity will be reduced to nothing then the bad changes would not have happen. But he said he think nothing would change and as an answer he gave me “Hiroshima and Nagasaki” people live there today. So even after a nuclear war there will be no changes… so it’s not that bad… humanity would survive. And that suck. That means that humanity will never be extinct. And there will not be a chance for evolution to make a new better kind of human, a human with out the last for destruction.
if a person did,nt own property does it still go to probate?
Our probate closed on 9/05/07 and it is now 9/27/07 but the lawyer has yet to disperse our money to us. My wife is the executer of the will and the sole heir. All outstanding bills have been paid and there are no liens to deal with. What is the time limit for dispersal after probate ends?
What are the steps to probate an estate? What goes on in a probate hearing?

my parents and i have a living trust, which includes the house my parents own. lf i get married and later divorced, can my ex-wife touch anything in that trust or try to claim the house in the trust?
My brother and I are co-trustees of a house my dad left us. I have been living here for 4 years. I have spent about $20,000 in repairs to the house, and have giving my brother $65,000 in cash in those 4 years. I have lost my job and am no longer able to pay him. He has the trust doc. and will not show them to me. He wants to sell the property now, but i do not know what my dad wrote in the trust, i.e. who owns or has to move from the house. Does my brother have the right to sell the house without my consent?
Does any one have any experience with a living trust? We want to do one for our kids but I have a stepson (who would be included) I just dont want his mom to try to get what's not due to her. Any one know of the cons of a living trust?
I am not for divorce. she is keeping our daughters in her custody and not allowing them to speak with me or meet me. I applied for conjugal rights along with my counter to her petition. Should i apply seperate petition for conjugal rights and child custody ? Pl advice
My husband is leaving the 22nd for GED plus/basic training/AIT and will be gone for about 16 weeks. What I am wondering is what all would I need a power of attorney for? Can I just find one on the internet and us both sign it and have someone witness it, or does it have to be drafted by a lawyer?? Any other advice on legal stuff we may want to take care of before he leaves would be greatly appreciated! Thanks We have an 18 month old daughter and I will be giving birth to our son while he is gone
How are the deductions on estate taxes calculated. The family business, which is the estate mainly, is going to cause the tax. Are there any % the IRS goes by based on value? I can only find the maximum % on their site(46%).
My late husband passed away a year ago today, I just received a letter from "my attorney" (after not hearing from him in 9 months) saying that he received a letter from the dept of revenue that I did not file a "Inheritance Tax return on my husband's estate". Do I need to do this?(he also has 3 children-2 out of state) My husband had no will (no money left behind) and my(his- I was not on the deed or mortagage) home is only worth $30.000, my van(also in his name only) about $1500.00 and my only income is a widow's pension from va , so I don't file a tax return, I am young and never owned anything, and this sometimes seems like more hassle than its worth! Will I get in trouble if I don't file one of these? Did someone report this to the IRS for them to come forward about this petty stuff? I live in Pa, please help, will this stuff ever end?? Thank you!
I live in NC and my parents' estate (who lived in NY) is valued at a little over a million. How much estate taxes could I be hit with? Thanks for any help. I'm sorry - I should have added that the date of death was November of 2006. We had a lawyer that messed up on the estate matter and now have another lawyer handling the estate and telling us that we may have to pay a lot in taxes. Thanks again.
Are there any particular rules of thumb in tranferring ownership of an asset like a house to a beneficiary prior to your death so you can avoid taxes and probate? What can and can't you do? Tks. So if you just transfer the house over using a lawyer, is this realistic? Does there have to be a sale done? If so, is fair market price required? If not, what about gift taxes? Lots of questions...appreciate your help.
My dad passed away without "properly" funding his trust. We found a form with his trust titled "assignment & transfer of peronal property to revocable living trust" that states he transferred all his property to the trust. If he did not draw a new deed stating the trust owns the property, does this form help at all to void probate? What is it for?
I am an only child. My Mom is dead. My Dad's only asset is his house. If he adds me to the deed, won't ownership just transfer to me when he dies? Without inheritance taxes or probate? He lives in California.
My bankruptcy was discharged on December 2008. I am aware that my appointed trustee will collect my income tax. I would like to know when the trustee will take the proceeds and how he will take it. Will he take it after the tax deadline which is April 15? Will he send me a letter on how and when to pay it? I mean, what is the protocol?
I am in chapter 13 bankruptcy that was confirmed in February. I have made all the required payments to my trustee since I filed last September. She has NOT made a payment to my mortgage company since March and now they want to forclose on my property. I gave my attorney all the payment receipts to prove I made them. Are there any repercussions to the trustee for not making the payments? She has over $6,000 of mine that she hasn't paid to my mortgage company. What can we do?
I am a trustee of a complex trust as well as the primary beneficiary. All income is distributed to the primary beneficiary annually. I received a payment from the trust for reimbursement expenses and for payment of my time as trustee. Is any or all of this taxable income to me? Can the trust give me a gift up to $13,000 annually? Is the reimbursement treated differently than the compensation for services? Does it need to show on the K1? Can the trust give a secondary beneficiary a gift without issuing a K1 to the secondary beneficiary? Thank you. If you have any IRS sources that would be helpful.
I am looking for the right word. I heard in the news that there are lots of Trust Babies living in Miami. They have no parents. They live it off of the family trust fund. When they go out of control, "somebody" cuts their allowance to keep them in line. Do you know who is this somebody is? Is he called the executor, the trust manager, local guardian, bank manager or what ?
My grandmother passed away and my unstable bipolar aunt is the executor. The executor is talking about renting the properties out (1single family house, and 1 duplex) instead of liquidating them. Combined these two properties are worth about $700,000. What are my rights as a beneficiary in the trust if I want my share in cash and the executor doesn't want to liquidate assets yet? How much time does the law (California) give her to drag her feet?
We found an executed will dated 2001and two other drafts of revised wills (dated 2004 & 2006). Assuming the drafts were eventually executed, how do we know the executor is using the most updated version? Also, the attorney who drafted the wills says he has not been retained by the executor and we (potential benficiaries) were advised that we should get an attorney.
Let's face it, if the whole heaven and hell thing is real, most people would end up in hell. Since God is all-knowing, He already know in advance which of the human (us) He had created will be condemned in the end.
I have a business idea that is purely for the Internet. I dont know anything about computer languages. What web development companies will create my ideas for me? What kind of companies are these?
I want to know what anybody thinks will be the industry that will create billionaires in their 20s?
My attorney did not make me aware of the possibility of other debts on my moms property that would not be found through probate? After probate closed I found out about a lien that was placed on the property 2 years ago. I had no idea this could happen. And was not given the info to be prepared for this possibility. Do I have any recourse?
Have spoken to a couple that seemed pricey, if anyone has had experience with a competent attorney who charges modest fees in Florida I'd appreciate a recommendation. Decedent lived in St. Lucie County but hearings should not be required so while I'd like St. Lucie County recommendations I'd also appreciate recommendations for lawyers across the state. Thanks.
I need a lawyer that specialize himself in foreign wills legalizing them in the State of Florida the broward count or any county, but that he will legalize this foreign document. The deceased died in outsied USA in Guatemala and the property it is in Florida, broward county and yes I am inquiring about an ancillary adminsitration of an existing overseas probate and I do have the translated and certifid copies of all the foreign probate papers.
I gave a trusted friend,The Health Care Power of Attorney,on me.The person I gave the power of attorney, to thinks that they can order my family,to pay for some of my health care.Due to the fact that I might lose my house, due to my medical expenses. Can my friend do that?
I'm 23 years old, about to give birth to my 3rd child. I got a huge packet of healthcare information from the hospital that I will be delivering at. The ones I am having a hard time with are the ilving will and power of attorney for healthcare. I understand that if something goes wrong the living will covers the specific directives as to to be taken by caregivers, or, in particular, in some cases forbidding treatment. Te power of attorney for health care appoints a person to direct health care decisions if im not in a state to do so on my own. Should I fill these out? I know my previous pregnancys have been fine with no complications, should I be worried about something going wrong with this one? Just curious if anyone else has had to fill out these documents before?
what is the humanity associated with a living will?
I want to make a living will, so that my children will be taken care of by my sister if something happened to me. Now, I have full custody, and their father lives in Ireland,I live in the states, am I able to designate on my own who will get them, or will he automatically get them?
Could anybody please explain how a living will works and what is needed
